My journey into filmmaking started in the most unexpected way—at the age of 12. Hi, my name is Edjé Perezantolo.

Back then, I didn't know what film directing was. I just loved gathering my friends together to act out little scenarios. The first real "directing" moment I remember came when I borrowed a classmate’s Sony Ericsson flip phone and recorded them. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was my first experience with a film transition. I remember feeling such excitement and joy as I experimented with the "Fade" effect on that little phone. If only I knew how to transfer that video to a hard drive—I would’ve loved to hold onto that moment forever.

At 15, I had my first glimpse of an active film set. I was at my brother’s graduation when I overheard that a film crew was in town, filming a movie with a celebrity. Being curious (and a bit sneaky), I managed to blend in as a kid extra—they were looking for kids to play on the playground. But I wasn’t there to act. I was there to witness the magic. I watched a crew member clap the slate, then heard the shout of "Action!" and just like that, my dream was born. That moment is still vivid in my mind, and it’s the fuel I return to whenever the road to filmmaking gets tough.

Now, years later, I am more passionate than ever about filmmaking. Every project I take on, I put my heart into it—because I remember that kid who dreamed of becoming the one who calls "Action."
